I went in to get my DOT Physical and we had just moved to Wyoming so while I was doing this I got my PSA done on February 5, 2009. It came back high so I was referred to urologist and he wanted to have a biopsy done. I did do the biopsy on April 24, 2009, and it came back with a Gleason of 3+4 or 7. He then set up bone scan for April 30, 2009 and all was negative.

On May 14, 2009 we had consultation and were given our options for treatment. My doctor advised me I was a good candidate for surgery but would discuss and do what ever we choose as treatment. My father had prostate cancer, so I knew this was probably certain that I probably had it and there was no reason to put any further treatment off. I scheduled surgery for June 17, 2009.

I am home Friday June 19th, without any complications. I never needed a single pain pill or any exceptional treatment. I was told all was in the prostate and no further treatment will be necessary, wow am I lucky. All I was fearing, and not a thing went wrong, I was up and walking in just a few hours and am so glad I chose this option.

Sorry I guess I forgot about updates, I have all good news; after prostate removal I had absolute zero problems, within four months all was back to normal.

I went back every three months for the first year all check up were PSA undetectable, I now will be going every four months for a year, so hope all will stay undetectable.

I am so glad I made the right decision for removal of prostate, now I can sleep with a clean body knowing the cancer is gone. I have no side effects and never did, sex, bladder, all works same as before surgery.

I am very fortunate to have no side effects from my surgery and my PSA is undetectible, I am back to the same as before surgery and actually feel better than ever. It is almost like I have forgotten I even had surgery that is how lucky I feel. All my news is good news on each follow up appointment and my Urologist is very happy with all. I have no leakage need no meds or anything and my wife is very happy I chose to do what I did, if it was not for her support I might have not been reporting the same results.

All you guys there is life after prostate cancer and quality at that, hang in and be tough.

I had surgery June 2009, go back for checkups most recent was Feb 7 2013 undetectable PSA... Yeah>>> no problems whatsoever either I had good doctor or I am very lucky and thankful for all working out to be great and I am doing the same of everything as before I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I think back the day we got the reports I thought I was done in this world, stay positive and talk to people I found out there were people I work with went through this and we would never know unless we talk about and help each other get through it. Life is great and will be great after treatment no matter what you chose stay positive. It is not a death sentence by a long shot; more like a bump in the road.

I am doing excellent my PSA is O and I have had no side effects what so ever. I do not know if I am lucky or I had a excellent physician doing my Prostatectomy, but if I did not know I went through surgery and told anyone they would not know the difference, my life is the same as before surgery and I hope it continues the rest of my life. My physician is always happy to see me smiling and hearing all NO to his questions and sends me on my way for another year. I wish and pray everyone would have the outcome as I had.

It has been almost 6 years since my surgery, I have no cancer and I only need to see my Urologist once a year as my PSA is still at zero. I have never taken any medication or had any other treatment other then surgery. I hope everyone having to make this decision goes with what the heart tells them to do, I am glad I chose my treatment. Hope all stay well and I hope my PSA stays the same ZERO...

I am doing very well no problems cancer free and only see my Urologist once a year for check up. I chose surgery and glad I made that choice as I have no worries now seems like the surgery removed all cancer and cells so could not be more thankful for my Dr. and staff for doing a great job.

All is good news from me. My yearly check up with urologist is going well PSA is undetectable so I am happy with that. I am on no medications have no problems whatsoever so hope all stays that way for me. I am planning on retiring in 4 weeks and hope I have a great time traveling with my wife and enjoying my retirement years. Still doing great, go back once a year for checkup on PSA; still no detectable reading so I am very HAPPY and enjoying Retirement now.

I am currently 67 years old and doing very well. I just recently moved from Wyoming to SD and transferred to new physician here. July 2019 my PSA came back "0" which is what I was expecting as I never have had to have any follow up treatment plan other than normal physician checks. I no longer need to see a Urologist as my PSA has been undetectable since my prostate removal so just seeing my family physician for yearly checkup. My life is same as before surgery and have had no issues what so ever in fact I have to stop and ask when did I have that surgery. I am very Thankful for my outcome and never think about the decision I made it was right for me.

WOW another year has gone by so quickly and I am Happy to report I am doing exceptionally well and have had no problems whatsoever since 2009 my surgery. I am on no medications or therapy after my surgery other than having my physician do my annual PSA which is still always GREAT NEWS when he tells me it is undetectable!! I hope and pray for every individual with prostate cancer diagnosis that the treatment they choose will be followed with the great success that I have experienced.

All good news here no problems, have PSA checked every year still undetectable HOORAY!!!! I celebrated my 70th birthday this past June so 13 years have gone by since my surgery and I have had zero problems since 2009. I hope the Best for all of my fellow YANA members.

Life is good, still undetectable PSA, enjoying my volunteer work, travel and riding my Honda Forza every chance I get.
