PSA history to date.
PSA=133 on 19 June 2005-On 4th June 2005 taken into East Surrey Hospital with a suspected heart attack, it wasn't, it was a pulmonary embolism, amongst the many tests just almost randomly also had a PSA test, came out of hospital on 25th June 2005. Apparently pulmonary embolisms can be a side effect of advanced cancers.

Diagnosed 25 June 2005-locally advanced, Gleason Score 4+3, MRI probe in lymph negative, bone scan clear.
PSA=95 on 14 Jul 2005 after 2 wks Casodex and first mthly shot Zoladex
PSA=3.3 on 17 Aug 2005 after one month Casodex (50) stopped. mthly Zoladex
PSA=1.1 on 5 Sept 2005- mthly Zoladex
PSA=0.84 on 7 Dec 2005- mthly Zoladex
PSA=0.72 on 7 Mar 2006-mthly Zoladex
PSA=0.21 on 18 April 2006-mthly Zoladex and 2weeks Casodex
PSA=0.13 on 5 May 2006-mthly Zoladex and 5weeks Casodex

On 8 May 2006 started 35 days IMRT.
On 27 June 2006 finished 35 days IMRT.
PSA=>0.1 on 10 July 2006- mthly Zoladex and 14weeks Casodex PSA test >0.1 on 4 September 2006.
PSA test >0.1 on 23 October 2006.
Last monthly shot of Zoladex 3.6 on 4th April 2007.
PSA test >0.1 on 23rd April 2007.

From 5th May 2007 increased Casodex from 50mg to 150mg per day, plus one 50mg tamoxifen tablet each week to pre-empt breast enlargement.

PSA 0.36 on 23rd July 2007. Testosterone 4.2nmol/l; LH 1u/l. Taken off of Casodex 150 today. Only medication now 50mg once a week of tamoxifen for a couple of months. Plus 12mg daily of warfarin to thin the blood to pre-empt another Pulmonary Embolism.

Flying free for the first time in 25months.

Next test 3rd October 2007.

Oct 3rd 2007, now 5 months off of Zoladex, 2 months off of Casodex. testosterone level 7.7; LH 4; PSA 7.3; CT/Bone scan & blood tests on 18th October/Review with Oncologist 22nd October and decide how to proceed.

After coming off of all medication; April 4, 2007 last monthly shot of Zoladex. May 5, 2007 Casodex 150 for two months.

PSA over three months climbed from 0.36 to 16.9. CT scan showed lymph nodes tumours outside initial irradiated area, no bone cancer.

Back on Zoladex 30 October, 07. PSA dropped back to 3.2 on December 4, 07. Also now on 50 mg Casodex. Next PSA test March 10, 08. If PSA continues to fall and CT scan shows lymph node tumours reduced; will have 25 day course of IMRT.

No update from Andy, who was at a function in December looking well. But worryingly, a post on another site shows that his PSA has started to rise rapidly and is now around 800 ng/ml.

Since last posting in 2007, went hormone refactory in summer 2008; after hormone and radiotherapy treatment.

PSA climbed pretty quickly but always feeling good. Jan 2009 went on a stage one trial for an AKT (protein kinase B) inhibitor, manufactured by Merck.

Taken off of the trial end of March, no obvious short term side effects or any obvious benefit.

Started another stage one trial drug mid May. Base line PSA was 1,371.

Still feeling good: PSA at 1,696, some bone and lymph node spread.

PSA now 2,635.0 ng/ml and still rising. Still feeling good.

30 December Whoops went into the Marsden for blood tests for tomorrow's 6th session, but decided against it as PSA hitting 7,000. So it's a load of scans, check it all out and then plan B. Slip in another blood transfusion next week. Still no pain, got a fuzzy head. Happy new year to one and all. lots of love Andy

18 February: His daughter writes: My dad is sitting next to me right now and says he feels in pretty good shape without any pain and is pretty mobile. However, the bone cancer in his skull was pressing on his optic nerve which has caused him blindness. He has had some radiotherapy on his skull and we are all hoping that his sight will return. This is the reason he has not been posting lately. I have just read him the last few posts today. He wishes all you guys out there the very best and says he's doing great.

13 March: His daughter writes at his dictation: I'm in fine spirits. Unfortunately, my eye sight is such that I am now totally blind. But hey, there are worse things! But at the moment I can't think of any...!, I shouldn't joke about this, it is, quite frankly, a bit of a drag.

There is an interview in the British newspaper The Telegraph in the issue of March 26 . Would that we all had Andy's courage and outlook.

Sadly news has come through that Andy has passed on - an incredible man indeed.
