His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Retropubic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.
My name is Jeff and I have a family history of prostate cancer in my family both my father and brother were diagnosed with it at an early age. I turned 49 December 2021 and was diagnosed in February 2022. I had been getting my PSA checked yearly since I was 45. Every year I would watch the numbers creep up, until this year after having a PSA of 5.2 I decided to have a biopsy. My biopsy came back with four of the 12 samples testing positive, my Gleason score was 4+3. I work at Henry Ford Health System and I have a very strong support system among my coworkers. My good friend who is the director of surgery recommended my urologist and surgon Dr. Ranasinghe. My bone scan and CT scan came back good, so I'm full steam ahead for my surgery April 2022. I won't lie I am concerned about the bladder control and erectile dysfunction I'll be facing but I'm hopeful overtime I'll regain control. My main concern is being cancer free, I'll further update after my surgery.
