Fred C lives in Michigan, USA. He was 62 when he was diagnosed in May, 2020. His initial PSA was 5.20 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

My first indication of my issue came last year when routine blood work showed my PSA level went from 3.5 (2019) to 5.2, then jumping to 6.7, 2 months later. I made the decision to remove my prostate since the numbers were aggressively increasing. I went through the whole gammet of emotions, dealing with a biopsy, surgery for removal during the height of COVID 19 crisis. Being dropped off at the door of the Hospital and no words of encouragement for 24 hrs from my family telling me it was going to be ok.

My problem now is the insurance company, of course this year it is different carrier. My Dr. ordered a PET scan to make sure nothing was lingering in me since two of my lymph nodes indicated a presence of cancer. Initially the referral was denied, my Dr challenged it and my carrier approved. Due to scheduling issues by the time I could get an appointment the referral timed out. Every attempted to get the PET scan referral to get extended or a new one submitted for approval has been denied. What is the next step for me? An Attorney?

Any advice would be appreciated.
