Paul Surface and Shelley live in Massachusetts, USA. He was 70 when he was diagnosed in December, 2017. His initial PSA was 2.40 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 8, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

As a 74 year old Prostate Cancer Survivor (prostatectomy 6-2019), I have become a passionate advocate about the importance of providing prostate patients with practical information to help them manage the not-so-glamorous realities of a cancer diagnosis/recovery and adjusting to a "new normal".

There are a myriad of medical community, cancer organizations, blogs, and advertisers that provide articles on the internet. However, there was no site to be found that helped to simply answer my many practical questions. Unfortunately, not until December 2020 did I discover the 'one and only' website that would have helped me manage the realities and stress of a prostate cancer diagnosis and recovery. YANANOW.ORG.

My passion to help prostate patients and caregivers resulted in the creation of the website, THRUCANCER.COM, written by prostate cancer survivor's.

The site provides practical, unfiltered insights and tips from Prostate Cancer Survivor's that the medical community communications gloss over and leave the patient on his own. The site includes a Home Checklist and insights into Catheter Management, Dysfunction, Walking, Stress Management....

It would have been so helpful to have known about YANANOW.ORG during my recovery. My Advocacy Campaign is to contact Medical Hospitals and Organizations to challenge them to share the YANANOW.ORG and THRUCANCER.COM websites as a support for their Prostate Cancer Patients and Caregivers. If you have any suggestions, please contact me at thrucancer.com.

UPDATED

August 2024

I was diagnosed in 2018. Had prostatectomy 2019. Still not signs of cancer. Yana now does a good job of providing information. I have created a free website prostateroadmap.com and book Prostate Cancer Survivors Roadmap. They provide resource material on what to expect and how to deal with as prostate cancer diagnosis. Men and caregivers face challenging issues throughout the process. These resources are created to help.
