Hi, YANA! I was diagnosed with PCA in November 2016, during the summer/autumn of 2016 I have lost a lot of weight, app. +25kg it concerned my wife and I went to the doctor for the first time in my life.
I was 44 yo. I underwent a lot of blood-test CT-scan etc.
A week later I had a new appointment with my doctor, and BAHMM! PSA = 948, the same day I went to the hospital for 9 needle samples, biopsy, of my prostate, BAHMM! again, Adenocarcinoma in all samples Gleason score was 10, stage T4N1M1 - I am happy my wife was with me, it was a tough day.
I have always been one of the best in sports and so, and now I was one of the youngest men in Denmark (2016) with a PCA-diagnosis that bad. What a conquer ‹(•¿•)›
I was sitting on my bedside and I was crying for a week or more - how to tell my children? my mother? my sisters and brother? and all my friends? I have always been the one everybody was looking up to, and my life has been successful with a nice marriage for 25 years - 4 wonderful children, great career.
I have my own company with 20 employees, what about them? Did I have to shut down my business or?
I was confused and believed I should die before next summer.
But here I am still going strong, do feel well, even though I can feel something inside me there should not be there ;o/
On the day of diagnosis I had my first ADT injection 2x120mg Firmagon. The week after I started up with 6+2 rounds of Taxotere (Docetaxcel) every 3 week, PSA was tumbling down to 148, 67, 25 and after the last shot of chemo in May 2017 my PSA was down to 1,0 WOW! what a journey.
I spent some of the summer with travelling around Europe with my wife and children, had the next appointment with my doctor in October 2017, PSA was now 1,5 not much compared to 948 in November 2016, but it was 50% higher than my PSA in May 2017.
December 2017, started on XTANDI, Enzalutamide, oral intake 4x40mg every day - the pills are small bastards, I have some side effects, fatigue, weight gaining, heart jumps etc. but my PSA is now 0,0 and stable.
I have been scanned 4 times during the last couple of years, (PET/CT/MRI) the scans always look no good, so we do not scan that often, (its making me sad) I have cancer all over: Bladder, lymphs, liver, maybe lungs and my bones are globally "infected" with cancer. Right side kidney are almost not working I have a plastic stent (JJ-catheter) between kidney and bladder.
I go to fitness 4 times a week 1,5h/time and I am walking 8km = 5 miles a day in the woods, I am eating a lot of vegetables, no red meat, sometimes a little piece of chicken, and 2-3 times a week fish, no sugar, no alcohol, no beers, no cola, no ice cream, no sweets, no milk etc. I am drinking fresh squeezed ginger juice every day at least 200gram/day combined with spinach, carrots, pomegranate, red grapefruit, broccoly and other greens vegs. all mixed in my slow juicer - tastes awful, but I am getting used to it now. It makes me strong. I am working almost full time, sleep sometimes during the day 1 hour or 2.
I have the next appointment with my Urolog in April, looking forward to se what´s up. I do a blood test every month, my blood picture looks good all ower, testosterone below 0,5 nmol/L
I am sure my change of lifestyle has been a huge factor on my survival trail - and I will be here many years from now, for that I am sure.
Keeping you updated ;o)
Hi - here is my latest update, I am still alive;-)
Have been on ADT treatment FIRMAGON + XTANDI for more than 2 years, PSA still undetectable.
Life is great, enjoying everyday - working full time, some fatigue during the day, sleeps sometimes one our or maybe two, around noon.
My sexlife is finished, hard to admit but there are absolutely no life in "little Ron" and the lust has also disappeared.
Have bought some old cars from the 80ties to drive instead of sex, makes me feel "young" and attractive again ;o)
Eating healthy stuff, very little red meat or chicken, fish 3 times a week. Juicing vegetables almost every day. But I am no fanatic. Doing exercises in my fitness center 3-4 times a week at least 1,5h the rest of the days walking along the beach or in the woods.
