I will be having Open Radical Prostatectomy surgery on June 21, 2007. I have spent the last 2+ months researching treatments and options.
I took a trip to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Illinois for a second opinion.
I ruled out HDR (High Dosage Radiation) due to position of tumor and am comfortable with the surgery decision.
Will let you know how things turn out post-op.
It has been over nine months since surgery - all ZEROS on PSA blood draws!
I had very little pain, only discomfort was the catheter for nineteen days.
I am experiencing no incontinence problems. I used 1 to 2 pads a day initially, none after 3 months.
Erections are getting stronger, Viagra helps a lot.
I am extremely happy that I went with the Open surgery, but that was my decision, not necessarily the right choice for someone else.
Still getting blood work every 6 months, and thank God I am well.
Had a stroke in August, and am almost fully recovered from that mishap. Wish everyone the best!
Very well, no PSA problems, stroke is 98% cured.
Very pleased with my situation. Take care, and stay well!
After 6 years still cancer free!
Just passed the 7 year mark, thank God I am free of the cancer. I attribute my success to annual physical, and taking advantage of the preventive test & treatments. My best to all!
It's been over 8 years since my operation, and Thank God am cancer free. Had a stroke 5 years ago, and am walking 1 to 2 miles a day. Life is good! Stay well!!
So blessed & happy to say doing well over 9 years after surgery. Make sure to get that annual physical, along with a digital & PSA test. This cancer does not have to be a death sentence. Stay well!
Still doing well!
Almost 12 years since surgery and doing well. I feel blessed every time I look at my wife, children, and grand children! I am very fortunate!!!
Coming up on 13 years, and happy to say doing well! Don't be passive, get tested & treated!
