I was diagnosed in August 2013. PSA 5.49. I opted for DaVinci robotic prostatectomy. 3 weeks prior to surgery my PSA was 4.8. 1 day prior to surgery my PSA was 3.8. I went ahead with surgery on the 20th Nov 2013.
I am currently strugging with bladder neck stricture and ED. I had a urethrotomy done for the stricture. Hope it helps.
I had the catheter removed on the 19th Feb 2014 after optic urethrotomy surgery on the 11th Feb to improve urinary flow. By the 1st March 2014, I noticed a steady decline of urine flow and contacted my Urologist. He did a Urethral dilation on the 6th March 2014 by inserting curved rods into the bladder and stretching the stricture. (Whew this was sore). The flow has improved so far but its only been a couple of days so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I also had the results of my first PSA test which came back undetected at 0.01. That was a relief, let's hope it stays that way. My biggest concern currently is the stricture although my erections are weak sex is the furthest from my mind. Will keep you updated further.
I went for my PSA test on Tuesday, 9 months after my radical prostatectomy, it read 0.02 ng/ml. Not sure if this is ok because my last PSA test was done in February and it read 0.01 ng/ml. [Yes, it is ok, since the Ultra-sensitive PSA test is unable to accurately measure that low -- click here for more information.] I was having stricture problems 3 months after RP and my Uro Surgeon did 2 Optical urethrotomy's with no result. He did state that the cause for the stricture was a clip that had migrated. I eventually decided to try another Urologist whom was quiet elderly and more experienced. He admitted me to Theatre on the 25th April. He removed the stricture with laser treatment. The stricture did return but not so badly as previously. He also removed 4 more clips that had migrated. My urine flow has improved though not fully but much better than before (Hope it stays that way). Erections is still a problem but I can feel it coming on slowly. I haven't really tried any medication for ED yet. My bladder is holding up quite well with occasional leakage mostly if I hold my urine for too long that too just a few drops.
Just did another PSA test 13 months after Robotic surgery (0.01) and all looks well. Still struggling with ED. My urine flow is still a little slow but I can live with that. No unexpected leakages so far. Will look into taking medication for ED this year. All in all everything is fine, just put on a lot of weight and will be looking to reduce with some regular exercise.
It's been 1 year and 9 months since I had my prostate removed by DaVinci robot. I am not on any specific diet but am trying. The only problem I have currently is ED. Not sure how long it takes for this to come right after surgery. [It can take 2 years or longer, but it also depends on other factors. such as age and the degree of function prior to surgery.] I had my last PSA test on Saturday 19 Sept 2015 and it was 0.01 (thank God). Everything else is fine so far. I am trying to use a penile pump to try and assist with the ED. If any one has used this then I would not mind the feedback. Just want to make sure it's safe and effective and does not cause any problems later.
Its been 2 years 4 months since my surgery and I am feeling well. I was struggling with ED but have noticed that it is improving with each passing day. I can currently state that I am not having any side effects post surgery. My bladder is holding up pretty well with no leakage at all. My battle with ED is slowly becoming a thing of the past (you were right that it can take up to 2 years ). My urine flow is stable and has not been decreasing since my last surgery in April 2014. All in all I am well. My next PSA test will be done in April next month so I will update you on that.
I did my last PSA test almost a year ago so I was a bit worried as the last test was 0.01 and now it is at 0.05. Not sure if I need to worry or not or should I do more regular PSA tests like every 6 months. My ED has improved quite a bit but not yet fully. All in all I feel fine and can't complain as others are in a worse off situation.
Goodday, I went in to test my PSA yesterday and the results have been good, still 0.01. I am still having a slight difficulty maintaining an erection. I am using Cialis now and it has improved a lot. I still don't have all the sensations that I had prior to the op so will just have to accept that it will never be the same. I am still coming to terms with the loss of Penis length and girth though. All in all everything is working so can't complain. I don't have any Bladder issues like sudden leaks etc..Until next test, Bye
I had Da vinci Robotic surgery in December 2013. I have been struggling with a Bladder neck stricture which is aggravated by physical activity whereby i end up having a urinary tract infection. Otherwise my urine flow is very not very restricted. I had 4 post procedures done after the Robotic surgery to recify my Stricture issue but the stricture returned , apparently i also had clip Migration which was also causing the stricture, not sure if they removed all. I can pass urine but am prone to UTi's only after some physical activity like brisk walking , Jogging etc. My erections are 95% ok, not like previouly but not bad also. I do lack some sensation though. My current PSa score is still 0.01 so ,so far so good. It will be exactly 8 years since my Robotic Surgery and i am doing fine .
