Initial treatment was Proton Beam Radiation, followed by cryotherapy, hormone treatment, strict 100% Vegan diet (which held PSA flat for 2 years).
Currently taking Ketoconozole (400 mg) with 5 mg Prednisone, Xgeva and Lupron. PSA has stayed level for over a year with Ketoconozole, I plan to go back to a 100% Vegan diet if my PSA exceeds 150. I do light exercise regularly.
My first treatment was Proton Beam Radiation, which I choose because of the lack of side effects.
Surgery was my next choice, but in studying the literature I found it had too many risks and side effects.
My PSA has been steady for over two years on a treatment of Lupron, Xgeva, and 5mg Prednisone + 400 mg Ketoconazole daily.
This is my sixteenth year of survival !! I feel fine !!
For my own incontinence I have developed and tested an extremely comfortable penis clamp. For details see kx170b.com/wang.htm. It is so comfortable I have to reach down to verify that I put it on. It can be worn 24/7.
I have now survived prostate cancer 16 years and am doing very well.
I am a 17 year survivor this summer. I am 73 years old and functioning well. I get light to moderate exercise each day, and eat a low-fat diet. What a surprise - I didn't think I would last this long.
This is my 18th year of survival. I get fatigued from Lupron injections, but staying active in physical tasks seems to help to stay alert (along with caffeine). I think it's important to not think a lot about cancer a lot. The psychological strain can be worse than physical problems.
Soon to be a 20 year survivor! Doctors can't say why. I try to ignore the disease. I think many men die of worrying about it. Treatment is monthly Lupron and Xgeva injections with Prednisone + Ketoconazole combination. Relax - life your life.
Little change in the last year. 20 years since diagnosis. I'm 76 years old. Forget about the disease - live your life!
Currently getting Xgeva and Lupron injections monthly. Moderately active, a little weak (77years old). I don't worry about my cancer.
