Weed P lives in Texas, USA. He was 72 when he was diagnosed in November, 2014. His initial PSA was 4.40 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 9, and he was staged T2b. His initial treatment choice was External Beam Radiation+ADT (Other) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2019 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Quick Review: 4 cores, 6,7,9,9. Second opinion by Dr. Epstein of JH. Three shots of Lupron, stopped due to side effects. I find it unrealistic that Gleason 8,9,10 are often lumped together when Gleason 9 is purported to be twice as likely for biochemical recurrence. After researching many articles and opinions it seems to me that often if you have Gleason 9 or 10 and you are over 70 years old you are more or less given up on. Most of the prognosis graphs and articles I read point to approximately 75% of those with 9 and 10 will have a recurrence within 5 years. I had a consultation with Dr. Partin after learning I had Gleason 9 in two cores, he told me it was 100% that I had microscopic cancer cells outside the prostate gland. He recommended radiation and hormone therapy which I did. Lupron has nearly as many detractors as it has proponents. One study said it may increase your life by six months, I don't think the bad side effects are worth the effort. Just an uninformed opinion.
