Eric Scott lives in Texas, USA. He was 52 when he was diagnosed in August, 2017. His initial PSA was 6.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

Diagnosed in August, 2017, after a biopsy revealed 2 cores had cancer. Urologist suggested watchful waiting, after lots of research I opted for robotic prostatectomy. Had procedure done in November, 2017. Dr. Bagrodia, UT Southwestern.

I'm 3 weeks out from surgery, no continence issues(thank the Lord!). Sexual function seems to be fine (thank the Lord). Still pretty sore on the inside, but I hear that's pretty normal. I would recommend the suprapubic catheter vs. the Foley. While neither is ideal, the sp was much less painful than the Foley.

No cancer spread to lymph nodes, so should be cancer free! Will have a PSA check in May of 2018, will update then.

So far, very satisfied with entire procedure.

UPDATED

December 2017

Seven weeks after surgery and doing well. No leaking, all entry incisions are healed. Still a bit sore inside, but I understand that will take up to a full year before that is completely healed.

Still would recommend doing the robotic surgery.

UPDATED

November 2018

One year after robotic surgery, doing well. I did have a ventral hernia as a bi-product, but got that fixed.

The hernia was actually a harder recovery than the prostate surgery.

Next physical will be end of the year, PSA test should be a zero!

UPDATED

December 2019

2 years out from robotic surgery, and all systems are go. Multiple PSA checks are all around 0. The worst part for me was the internal pain and healing, took a few months. Very grateful to Dr. Bagrodia and his team for a job well done. Also, thanks to all that prayed for me as well, prayer definitely works.
