THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2018 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Diagnosed as a result of a PSA test during a routine annual health check which was followed by a biopsy, MRI of pelvis and abdomen and bone scan, which established that the cancer was confined to the prostate.

None of the usual symptoms were present.

The uroligist seemed to favour surgery, although, as usual, gave me all the options and left me to decide.

Took a second opinion which confirmed the first, but provided me with more information about the various radiotherapy options available. Once again, he made no recommendation!

I am tending to favour brachytherapy - does anyone have any expereince with this?

Implant was carried out on 12 Sept 2012.

Suffered constipation for first week and a slight increase in frequency of urination which continues.

First PSA test will be in mid-December. So far no complaints. The side effects have been much less than I feared.

Fifteen months after the brachytherapy implant such side effects as I had are largely gone. Still on tamsulosin plus cialis or viagra.

28 months after the Brachytherapy implant, I live a life virtually the same as before. No significant side effects that affect daily life.

Brachytherapy in Sept 2012. PSA tests every six months sinc e then, followed by telephone consultation with doctor who carried out procedure, which will continue until 5 years after procedure.

PSA remains low and side effects have been minimal. In recent months have been able to give up using tamsulosin.

Generally verfy satisfied with the results of my choice.

Approaching five years since my brachytherapy procedure, and all contunues well. PSA negligible and side effects minimal.

Highly recommended if you qualify.
