BRONZE

Steven Wilson and Cathy live in North Carolina, USA. He was 60when he was diagnosed on February 4, 2011. His initial PSA was 4.52 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was (4+3 )7 and he was staged T2c. His choice of treatment was Davinci RP - RALP (Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) . Here is his story.

My reason for choosing RP as compared to other treatments was based on my wanting the "cancer" removed from my body ASAP. I felt a need to decide quickly. My Urologist immediately had scheduled a date for surgery. If I had known that prostate cancer is a slow growth variety, I would have taken more than a month to make a final decision. After surgery, my research convinced me that, at that moment in time I made the right decision.

As I recovered from the surgery, I had to battle incontinence/ED. 7 months later, ED is improving slowly but continence is 95% of normal. Physical activity and coughing still an issue but core exercising has strengthened my bladder control. I expect my recovery will take about 1 year. Mental toughness is key to any success.
